Ole Romeny Continues The Naturalization Process, PSSI Chairman Awaits His Performance In The Indonesian National Team

JAKARTA - Ole Romeny's naturalization process continues after getting approval at the DPR RI Plenary Session. PSSI General Chairperson (Ketum), Erick Thohir, can't wait for the player's performance in the Indonesian national team.

On Tuesday, February 4, 2025, the files of three naturalized candidates, namely Ole Romeny, the Geypens Team, and Dion Marks were discussed at the DPR RI Plenary Meeting.

The request for citizenship was approved and made the three of them closer to their new status as Indonesian citizens (WNI).

"Alhamdulillah, I am grateful and appreciate the quick decision of the honorable council members at Commission X and XIII which allows Ole and two young players for U-20 to be naturalized as soon as possible," said Erick Thohir in his official statement in Jakarta.

"Moreover, these players are needed to increase the ammunition of the Indonesian national team which will undergo crucial matches," he said.

After being approved at the DPR RI Plenary Session, the naturalization documents of the three prospective Indonesian national team players will be submitted to the President of the Republic of Indonesia for the issuance of a Presidential Decree (Keppres). This is a requirement for all three to take the oath of Indonesian citizens.

From the three names above, Ole Romeny is a player who is projected to appear in the near future. He is expected to increase the strength of the Indonesian national team when continuing the 2026 World Cup Qualification agenda against Australia.

Erick Thohir hopes that the player can perform optimally and score goals for the Garuda Squad. However, looking at Ole's record at his club, his flight hours are still minimal.

" Ole's skills are very capable. Especially since strengthening Oxford United, he has twice defended the club."

"Even though he hasn't scored a goal yet, according to Oxford coach Gary Rowett, his performances in the two matches are considered good. He just joined the team."

"I hope he can become the new mainstay of the Indonesian national team to score goals against the opponent," said Erick.

Based on the plan, Ole Romeny, Geypens, and Markx will take the Oath of Indonesian citizens in London on Saturday, February 8, 2025.

Meanwhile, the agenda of the Indonesian national team against Australia in Sydney in the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers will take place on March 20, 2025 and will continue to host Bahrain in Jakarta on March 25, 2025.
