Ridwan Kamil's Wife Atalia Surprised That The Budget Of IDR 43 Billion Is Only For Management Support: What Do BPH Really Do?

JAKARTA - Member of Commission VIII DPR RI Atalia Praratya was surprised by the Rp43 billion budget proposed by the Hajj Organizing Agency (BPH). The reason is, the budget is only intended for management support.

The wife of the former governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil then questioned the purpose of establishing BPH, as well as her duties and functions. Atalia also asked for the budget allocation to be reviewed.

"I tried to digest the report submitted. I also have anxiety today, because it turns out that from the Rp43 billion budget, all of which focused on management support. So the most important thing we ask is, what is the real purpose of this BPH?" Atalia said at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, February 4.

"If in the end the goal is not achieved, because all of this is the goal related to management, from the start there is internal management support, then also all internal, office general services, human resources, everything is internal. So what do you really do? So I think this is very important to review again," he continued.

Atalia reminded that the formation of BPH should not be a waste. Because BPH was formed because it is to fix the management of Hajj so that it is better than the previous year.

"Because we know that of course why this agency was formed is related to how to better manage Hajj this year. Then of course what is important is to ensure that there is no overlap with the existing Director General of Hajj," said Atalia.

"But again that this is an extraordinary cut of up to 66.21 percent, meaning the cut is IDR 85 billion, which means IDR 43 billion. I understand the obstacles, gentlemen, but please return it to the real purpose of forming this body," continued the West Java electoral district Golkar legislator.

Previously, the Head of the Hajj Organizing Agency (BPH) Mochamad Irfan Yusuf said his party would revise the budget in his institution which was originally Rp 129 billion to Rp 43 billion. He explained that the budget revision was carried out because his party also revised Law Number 8 of 2019 concerning Hajj and Umrah Organizers.

"So we revised the budget because the revision of the law will have an impact on budget revisions. The budget revision is almost Rp. 85 billion from Rp. 129 billion, so it means 66.21 percent. So we will work with funds of only Rp. 43 billion," said Irfan at the Working Meeting with Commission VIII DPR RI in Jakarta, Tuesday, February 4.

Irfan explained that the budget revision had an impact on the budget of various programs that had previously been announced. Among them is the budget revision for management support, the original ceiling of Rp. 66 billion to Rp. 43 billion, then the support for management and other technical task implementers, which originally had a budget ceiling of Rp. 66 billion, also became Rp. 43 billion, legal services were originally Rp. 5 billion to Rp. 450 million.

Then for all protocol services, all management services and internal human resources from Rp 5 billion will not be left. However, Irfan admitted, his party experienced a budget shortage for personnel expenditures because the current budget available was only Rp 3.7 billion.

"This budget is not sufficient to pay the salaries and performance allowances of existing agency employees. An additional budget of IDR 24.6 billion is needed," he said.
