Cremated In Japan, Family Strives For Barbie Hsu To Return To Taiwan

JAKARTA - Actress Barbie Hsu passed away on Monday, February 3 because of pneumonia she got from the flu while on vacation in Japan. The latest news reveals Barbie Hsu and her family are still in Japan and have not returned to Taiwan.

Launching ET Today, Barbie Hsu's condition began to worsen on January 31. He was taken to a hospital in Tokyo but died on February 2.

Currently, the family plans to cremation in Japan before its ashes are brought to Taiwan. Wang Wei Zhong as a relative of Barbie Hsu's family represented his mother to speak publicly.

"The family is deeply saddened by Barbie's departure and we ask for your understanding as we cannot provide specific information at this time," said Wang Wei Zhong.

The process of bringing Barbie back to Taiwan requires complex procedures, so his family hasn't been able to return for a while. During his lifetime, Barbie was very worried about being highlighted by the media," Wang explained.

The producer also added that they hope that the public will give privacy to the families left behind considering that they are in a state of mourning.

We ask that you do not take photos and chase your family when they return to Taiwan. This is their hope and we hope you can respect that decision," he said.

It is not yet known whether DJ Koo, who is Barbie Hsu's husband, is in the same location as his wife. When contacted by telephone by Korean outlets, DJ Koo only responded briefly.

"I'm not okay," said DJ Koo.
