Minister Of Home Affairs: Schedule For Inauguration Of Regional Heads Resigns Due To External Factors
JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian said the reason for the postponement of the schedule for the inauguration of elected regional heads as a result of the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Head Elections was due to external factors from the interim decision of the Constitutional Court (MK).
The reading of the interim or dismissal decision that determines the death of a Pilkada Result Dispute (PHP) case is scheduled to be carried out on February 4-5, 2025, faster than the original schedule which was supposed to take place on February 13-15, 2025.
"Why on February 20, this is not the will of the government in fact, this is an external factor, namely the intermediate decision of the Constitutional Court on January 30, 2025, which was then followed up by a revision of the Constitutional Court Regulation which accelerated the decision of the dissal trial, which was originally 13-15 February, to 4-5 February," Tito said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, February 3.
He conveyed this after attending a working meeting of Commission II of the DPR RI with the Ministry of Home Affairs, KPU, Bawaslu and DKPP at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday.
With the change in the schedule for reading the interim decision at the Constitutional Court, he said that his party saw an opportunity to combine the inauguration of non-dispute regional heads with regional heads as a result of the Constitutional Court's dismissal decision.
"This opens up the opportunity, in fact, the time is short between February 6, which is non-dispute and dismissal. For the sake of efficiency and also to accelerate the dismissal of working, we think about combining it, combining it both," he said.

"We can make the inauguration between 18, 19, 20 (January) and I as subordinates will certainly provide input to the president, and he wants to be fast. It's good if the perceived can also be fast again if the number is significant combined. Well, that's him (President Prabowo) chose the 20th (February)," he said.
In addition to being efficient, Tito hopes that the inauguration of the regional head who is merged so that it becomes grand will make regional heads move simultaneously for the next one period.
"Move together to work as soon as possible," he said.
