Ombudsman Finds 6 Criminal Indications Related To Sea Fences: Unlicensed To Circulation Of Two Fake Letters

JAKARTA - The Head of the Banten Ombudsman Province Representative Fadli Afriadi stated that there were six criminal indications found related to the sea fence in Tangerang waters of 30.16 kilometers. One of them is illegal installation.

"We also note that there are other criminal indications, first as we know it is an unlicensed fence," Fadli said in an Indonesian Ombudsman YouTube broadcast, Monday, February 3.

Fadli also said that other criminal indications are the potential environmental impact, disturbing public order, harming the community to efforts to control marine space.

"And the circulation of two allegedly fake letters that were used to support the submission effort to get the marine space area," he said.

"So we believe this is a strong indication of the sea fence, the motive for controlling the sea space. So don't let the 1,500 be followed up so that the incident in Kohod Village will repeat itself," continued Fadli.

Therefore, the Ombudsman believes that there is a need for follow-up from law enforcement officials. Fadli also mentioned the need for an evaluation of the national strategic project (PSN) in the PIK 2 area after the emergence of a polemic of the sea fence. Because the sea fence and PSN are an issue that is mixed up.

"So at the beginning it was always a question of whether the sea fence was in PSN or not because it was not clear where the PSN community was," he said.

"Because of the unclear lack of information, it was finally used by irresponsible persons who smoothed out any efforts that were not in accordance with what was supposed to be around the area. So that we encourage the need for evaluation of PSN and efforts to convey clearly to the public complete information," he concluded.
