BPS Reveals Rice Production Throughout 2024 Only Capai 30.62 Million Tons
JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that rice production from January to December 2024 decreased by 1.54 percent compared to the previous year.
Plt. Head of BPS, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti said that rice production throughout 2024 only reached 30.62 million tons or decreased by 480.06 thousand tons when compared to 2023 as much as 31.10 million tons.
"The decline in rice production was contributed by a decrease in production in subround I, due to El-Nino's prolonged production," he said at a press conference, Monday, February 3.
Adapun ada subround I (January-April 2024) terjadi penurunan 1,91 juta ton, atau turun sebesar 14,74 persen. Namun penurunan ini dapat dikompensasi dengan pertumbuhan produksi pada subround II (Mei-August) dan subround III (September-December). Di mana saat itu, produksi beras mengalami kenaikan sebanyak 160,000 ton dan 1,28 juta ton.
In addition, 54.18 percent of the total national rice production in 2024 comes from the island of Java. Where in terms of provinces, the five largest rice producers are East Java, Central Java, West Java, South Sulawesi and South Sumatra.

Meanwhile, the highest rice production in 2024 will occur in April, which is 5.38 million tons. Meanwhile, the lowest rice production occurred in January, which was 0.87 million tons.
On the other hand, BPS also estimates that the potential for rice production in January-March 2025 will reach 8.67 million tons, an increase of about 2.98 million tons, equivalent to 52.32 percent compared to the same period last year of 5.69 million tons.
