South Korea's Privacy Supervisor Will Explore DeepSek Information Management System

JAKARTA South Korea's information privacy watchdog plans to explore the security of the DeepSek application. They want to know how the platform manages users' personal information.

This plan was disclosed by officials at the agency, according to a Reuters report. Currently, South Korea's Personal Information Protection Commission is still preparing a written information request letter to DeepSek developers in China.

It did not explain when the letter would be submitted. The agency officials also did not disclose how long they had set for Hangzhou DeepSek Artificial Intelligence Co Ltd. to respond to their request on time.

If DeepSek fails to meet the set time or even fails to provide the agency's desired information, the Artificial Intelligence (AI) application may be blocked from South Korea. This has happened in other countries.

South Korea is not the only country investigating the security of the DeepSek platform since the AI model became popular. Institutions in France, Italy, Ireland, and others also took similar actions.

Authorities in France, Italy, Ireland, and other countries have also investigated the use of personal data by DeepSek. Garante, Italy's data protection authority, blocked DeepSek because information about users of personal data on the platform is still lacking.

Once blocked, the app is still being investigated to find out what personal data was collected, where the source came from, and why the data was collected. For now, the app cannot be found in popular app stores like the App Store.
