Get Ready, Free Day Car Area In Ternate Will Be Expanded

JAKARTA - The City Government (Pemkot) of Ternate, North Maluku (Malut), will expand the Car Free Day (CFD) area starting February 2, 2025 and this policy was carried out due to the high enthusiasm of residents to enjoy CFD from Taman Nukila to the Grand Mosque.

"Later on, this vehicle-free area will be extended until Falajawa Beach passes through the Resident Port," said Ternate City Secretary (Sekkot) Rizal Marsaoly, when contacted, Saturday.

He revealed that the decision was taken after trials in the past two weeks showed a surge in community participation, especially around Taman Nukila.

"So that we expand the area with the hope that all city residents can be more comfortable in exercising, enjoying the morning, sunrise, and culinary atmosphere," said Rizal.

He added that the results of the evaluation of the CFD implementation in the previous two weeks showed the need for an expansion of the area.

"At the end of this week, we are planning to expand. This is for the convenience of the community in enjoying Car Free Day on weekends," said Mochtar.

With this expansion, it is hoped that the community can enjoy the atmosphere of the morning more freely while exercising and traveling culinaryly in a wider area.

Meanwhile, a resident of Ternate, Muhaimin expressed his appreciation to the Ternate City Government for the expansion of the CFD area from the Agung Al-Munawwar mosque area to Taman Falajawa.

"Indeed, Ternate residents are very enthusiastic about exercising, especially on holidays, so with the expansion of this CFD area, it makes residents free to exercise with their families," he said.

Previously, the Ternate City Government provided a CFD area around the Ngaralamo Field to Pandara Kananga.

However, the area was renovated, so it was diverted to the Al-Munawwar Grand Mosque Area and will be extended to Falajawa Park.
