Here Are 5 Special Foods Served In Tokyo Olympic Athletes Village
JAKARTA - The organizing committee for the Tokyo Olympics announced five special dishes to be served at the athletes' village during the summer's games, Kyodo News Agency reported Monday evening.
According to Antara, the five dishes were the winners of last year's recipe contest, including cold "somen" noodles, a classic dish commonly enjoyed during summer in Japan.
Although soaking the noodles in a lightly seasoned soup stock is common, they are served with chicken and vegetables in a tomato broth to help athletes get the nutrition they need.
Next, another dish that will be served is "oden," the standard winter menu. However, the dish that is usually served hot will be served in a cold soup with tomatoes and other summer vegetables, along with more Japanese ingredients, such as fish cakes or fish cakes.
For dessert, a "zunda de panna cotta," with sweet mashed green soybeans common in northeastern Japan, will be served.
Two other dishes are fried "zangi" salmon, which originates from Japan's northernmost main island, Hokkaido, and toast with peaches, ham and cream cheese.
The contest, which was organized by organizers and company sponsors in August and September last year, received more than 700 recipes.
