Hailed In 2 Subdistricts In Cianjur, Residents Panic Heard Rumbling Sounds On The Roofs Of Houses

CIANJUR - Two sub-districts in Cianjur Regency, West Java Province, were hit by hail on Monday, April 19 this evening. Residents are advised to remain prepared for disasters because it is estimated that heavy rains will still occur until the end of April.

BPBD Cianjur Secretary Irfan Sofyan said that the two sub-districts affected by the hail were Cugenang and Cianjur. So far, no reports of damage to residents' houses due to hail have not been received.

"The size of the falling ice cubes is only 1 centimeter in diameter, so it does not damage roofs or other buildings. Hail for the third time hit the Cianjur area, previously several months ago, the same thing happened," said Irfan Sofyan when contacted by Antara, Monday. , April 19.

Local residents panicked at hearing a roar on the roof of the house. According to Irfan, heavy rain accompanied by ice has the potential to cause ground movement, especially in the northern region of Cianjur and flooding in the city and south of Cianjur.

"Retana in each sub-district is alerted to carry out mapping and immediately evacuate residents, if they see natural signs of a disaster," he explained.

Last January, hail occurred in Pasirkuda District. The same Kejadin also struck the Villa Kota Bunga area, Cipanas District in September last year. Ice pellets of various sizes entered the kiosks and terraces of residents' houses.

Hail, he said, occurred due to extreme weather that hit most parts of Indonesia, so residents were advised to remain vigilant.

In particular, residents living in disaster-prone areas due to the intensity of rain are estimated to remain high until the end of April.

"We urge residents who are hit by hail to remain alert and vigilant by staying silent at home because heavy rain accompanied by ice has the potential for falling trees and other natural disasters. Moreover, residents who live in disaster-prone areas, must be alert and evacuate immediately," said Irfan. .
