Thailand Masters 2025: Putri KW Meets Malaysia In Round 16

JAKARTA - Putri Kusuma Wardani qualified for the second round of Thailand Masters 2025 and will meet the women's singles Malaysia, Kisona Selvaduray.

Putri, the third seed in this event, went through the first round with a win of two straight games 21-19 and 21-11 against Saloni Samir Mehta from Hong Kong on Wednesday, January 29 afternoon WIB.

Putri dominated all games, but in the first game the distance between points and her opponent was quite tight throughout the match.

"I had a bit of trouble in today's match, especially in the first game. Mehta's posture was quite high and the ball was quite sharp, it was quite bad for me," said Putri.

The 22-year-old badminton player had previously appeared at the Malaysia Open and Indonesia Masters 2025. In both events he managed to reach the quarter-finals.

Putri said she would evaluate her first appearance and try to perform better in the next match against Kisona later. "Tomorrow I want to play neater and maintain my fighting spirit," he said.

This will be the second competitive clash between Putri and Kisona. Putri previously won their first meeting in the Taipei Open second half in September last year.

Apart from Putri, several other Indonesian representatives also helped secure tickets for the second half today.

They are Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, Adnan Maualan/Indah Cahya Sari Jamil, Jafar Hidayatullah/Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu, and Amri Syahnawi/Nita Violina Marwah.
