The Poor Population In DKI Increases, Anies Baswedan: But The Lowest Is From Other Provinces

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan stated that the number of poor people in Jakarta is the lowest nationally compared to other provinces.

However, in percentage terms, the number of poor people continues to increase. From September 2019, it was at 3.42 percent or 362,300 to 4.69 percent or 496,840 in September 2020.

"The number of poor people in DKI Jakarta is the lowest when compared to other provinces in Indonesia," Anies said in his speech on the Jakarta Governor's Accountability Statement (LKPJ) for the 2020 Fiscal Year at the DKI Jakarta DPRD Plenary Meeting. April.

This number is much lower than the percentage of the total number of poor people nationally which is at 10.19 percent. Anies said the COVID-19 pandemic was the main cause of the increase in the number of poor people in Jakarta.

"The occurrence of the COVID-19 pandemic is a factor in the increase in the number of poor people in the capital," said Anies.

Apart from increasing the number of poor people, the COVID-19 pandemic has also reduced the rate of economic growth. Anies said the COVID-19 pandemic was the cause of contraction in domestic aggregate demand and had an impact on the expenditure side, which contracted in all components.

"Except for government consumption expenditure (PKP) which grew 1.60 percent," he said.

Meanwhile, household consumption has contracted due to sluggish purchasing power due to the pandemic. The COVID-19 pandemic, said Anies, also changed the 2020 inflation pattern in DKI Jakarta. Declining economic activity can be seen from the low inflation rate.

"Inflation in DKI Jakarta during January-December 2020 amounted to 1.59 percent, lower than the inflation rate for the same period in 2019, which was 3.23 percent," he said.
