Drug Dealers In South Kalimantan Are Getting More Violent, They Dare To Attack The Police With Sharp Weapons

JAKARTA - Drug traffickers in South Kalimantan (South Kalimantan) have recently become increasingly reckless by attacking police with sharp weapons (sajam) when they are about to be arrested.

As was done by a dealer with the initials A (37), when he was about to be arrested by members of Subdit 1 of the South Kalimantan Regional Police's Narcotics Research Directorate on Saturday, April 17 at his home in Landasan Ulin Selatan Sub-District, Liang Anggang District, Banjarbaru City.

"One member was injured as a result of the attack of the suspect," explained the Head of Subdit 1 of the South Kalimantan Regional Police, AKBP, AKBP, in Banjarmasin, as reported by Antara, Monday, April 19.

From the hand of the dealer who was desperate to injure the officer, three packages of crystal meth weighing 0.57 grams were confiscated. The sharp used by the suspect was also confiscated as evidence.

Meilki emphasized that the suspect, who works as a driver on a daily basis, was charged with multiple articles. First, Article 114 Paragraph (1) Subsidair Article 112 Paragraph (1) Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 35 Year 2009 concerning Narcotics due to possession of class 1 narcotics type of shabu-shabu. Second, he was also charged with Article 2 paragraph (1) of the Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951 for carrying a sharp weapon without a permit.

"This reckless action from the dealer is a warning to all members to be more careful and vigilant during the arrest process. If it threatens the safety of officers, then we also don't hesitate to take firm and measured action against the suspect," said Meilki representing the Director. South Kalimantan Police Narcotics Detective Kombes Pol Tri Wahyudi.

Previously, the dealer attacks against the police also took place on March 25, 2021. Suspect SR (47) fought using a sharp weapon when he was arrested during a shabu-shabu transaction on Jalan Swadaya, Kurau Selatan Village, Bumi Makmur District, Tanah Laut Regency.

Fortunately, officers from Subdit 1 Ditresnarkoba Polda South Kalimantan were prepared to anticipate and suspects could be paralyzed without the police being injured.
