Dompu NTB Handi 35 Cases Of Dengue Fever, 2 Child Patients Died
JAKARTA - At least two children died from dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in Dompu Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province.
"Temporary data as of January 22, 2025, there have been 35 cases. Two have died and 33 have been declared cured," said Head of Disease Control and Prevention (P2P) of the Dompu Regency Health Service (Dikes), Maria Ulfa Hamidah, Tuesday, January 28, as reported by Antara.
He said the two children who died were from Ranggo Village, Pajo District and Karombo Village, Pekat District.
"Both are children's status, 4.4 years old and one 5.5 years old," he said.
Ulfa admitted, the trend of dengue fever cases in Dompu continues to increase. However, his party has not received the latest data.
"We haven't got the last progress from hospitals and health centers. Usually they update it every week," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the P2M Program Working Team of the Dompu Regency Health Office, Faisal, said that the number of these 35 cases was data last week and had not yet entered the data this week from the Dompu Hospital.
"Right now, there are still reports of dengue cases every day. Because there is now rapid health centers, so they can detect dengue fever," said Faisal.
According to him, with the two deaths and the increasing number of people infected with dengue fever, Dompu should have been categorized as an Extraordinary Event (KLB).
"But what determines and determines is the authority of the regional head, not the Health Office or RSUD," he said.

What is currently being done, said Faisal, is that his party is making efforts to eradicate mosquito nests. This effort is encouraged to the community with a focus on areas where dengue cases are found.
"The most cases are still in the Dompu and Woja areas. But earlier this year, the Nangakara Health Center area had many dengue cases," he explained.
With so many dengue cases, Faisal said, his party would encourage the Friday movement to curate like water. The hope is to become a district level movement that must be followed by all villages throughout Dompu Regency.
"If this movement is successful, then mosquito larvae will not exist. Because there are adult mosquitoes from mosquito larvae," he said.
