KASA Expands Space Partnerships With European Institutions
JAKARTA The Korean Space Agency (KASA) wants to strengthen its space partnership with the European Space Agency (ESA). To achieve this, the agency had held a seminar with ESA.
This seminar was held to discuss concrete steps in various fields, ranging from space exploration, solar observations, and much more. The two institutions have also shared the latest information about their latest technology and research.
Based on the results of the discussion, KASA said that ESA plans to develop and operate the Vigil space mission to the Lagrange L5 point, while the South Korean agency is developing the L4 solar spacecraft.
KASA hopes that the two institutions can help each other in both missions. That way, "(this mission) can provide an important opportunity to deepen research on solar activity and space weather forecasts."
In addition, ESA has also created a European Union Global Navigation Satellite System (Galileo) which is claimed to be a navigation technology with high precision and advanced. On the other hand, KASA is also developing a navigation system called the Korea Positioning System (KPS).
If possible, KASA wants to collaborate in launching the KPS mission. The hope is that the two institutions can improve the accuracy and stability of satellite navigation and increase the strength and reliability of satellite navigation signals.
KASA and ESA have discussed the details of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) they will sign after it is agreed. For now, they are still negotiating on what programs can strengthen the partnership between the two institutions.
