President Prabowo Admits He Learned From India About Poverty Elimination

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto admitted that he learned a lot from the Indian government to eliminate poverty.

Presiden Prabowo juga mengakui dirinya banyak mendapatkan inspirasi dari program-program Perdana Menteri (PM) India Narendra Modi.

"I came here for a few days, but I learned a lot from the leadership and commitment of Prime Minister Modi," said President Prabowo as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, January 26.

"The commitment is to reduce poverty, help the marginalized, and help the weakest people is an inspiration for us," he continued.

Therefore, the President again stated that he was honored to visit India in the context of the state agenda as well as to fulfill the invitation as the main guest (chief guest) of the 76th Day of the Republic of India.

"I am very proud to be here (in India, ed). I am not a professional politician, I am not a good diplomat. I only say what is in my heart," said President Prabowo.

The dinner celebration at Rashtrapati Bhavan is part of President Prabowo's state agenda in India. At the event, President Prabowo, who was wearing a dark blue suit, sat beside PM Modi.

In Rashtrapati Bhavan, the ranks of the Red and White Cabinet who attended the dinner were Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of Culture Fadli Zon, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

At the same banquet, Indian President Droupadi Murmu welcomed President Prabowo's arrival.

The two saw several historical ornaments in Rashtrapati Bhavan.

On the same occasion, the President of India also thanked President Prabowo for his willingness to fulfill the invitation as the main guest of the Day of the Republic of India.

President Murmu then recalled the moment when the 1st President of the Republic of Indonesia Soekarno became the first main guest in the first anniversary of the Day of the Republic of India in 1950.

"This is a reflection of the longstanding relationship, and the strong democratic tradition between India and Indonesia," said the official broadcast of India's Presidential Palace.
