JAKARTA - The digital service provider platform UniPin together with game developer Riot Games SEA plans to hold a charity match titled Kartini Day Ladies Showdown on Kartini Day, inviting 20 female gamer influencers to compete through the online games League of Legends: Wild Rift and Valorant.
Reported by Antara, Monday, April 19, the charity match was held with a message to support the emancipation of women, especially in fighting sexual harassment. This is considered very relevant for female gamers, considering that the esports industry is still dominated by men.
Community and Channel Specialist, Indonesia, Riot Games SEA, Brigitta Darmadji, hopes that this activity can raise awareness of the importance of a friendly and safe Indonesian esports ecosystem for women.
"With the rapid growth of the esports industry, we think it is very important to start making this platform (esports) a safe place to play, work and share stories," said Brigita in her written statement.
"We hope this activity can be a meaningful step towards raising awareness about gender-based harassment, as well as helping to open up conversations on this topic in the future," he continued.
The match will be broadcast via UniPin Gaming's YouTube account on April 21, 2021 at 19.00 WIB. Some of the female gamer influencers who will participate include Kameaam, Inayma, Yapfero and Momo Chan.
Later, every 10 female gamer influencers will be divided into two game groups, League of Legends: Wild Rift and VALORANT.

In distributing donations, UniPin and Riot Games SEA collaborate with Lentera Sintas Indonesia (LSI). Through its various activities, LSI has provided many support groups for survivors of sexual violence in Indonesia.
Donation collection will be carried out during the live streaming charity match. Anyone can make a donation through the online fundraising platform, Saweria.
Apart from donations, UniPin and Riot Games SEA themselves have prepared a total prize pool of IDR 60 million. The entire amount will be fully donated on behalf of the winners of the charity match.
Not only charity matches, UniPin and Riot Games SEA have also organized a series of #SheSpeaksOut campaigns. Through this campaign, involved female gamer influencers have the opportunity to spread their support to female gamers to be able to voice their concerns about sexual harassment.
"Organizing this tournament and campaign is very crucial, knowing that we as women are often blamed when sexual harassment occurs. This is the wrong mindset," said Senior Vice President of UniPin Community, Debora Imanuella.
"Therefore, it is important for us to be able to speak out loudly on this issue and support our fellow women. There is a need here for us to speak up," she added.
