Dozens Of Traders' Kiosks At Blora Main Market Burned

BLORA - Dozens of merchant stalls in block D of the main market of Cepu, Blora Regency, Central Java, suffered a fire that resulted in material losses on Sunday morning.

According to the Head of Cepu Blora Sub-district, Endah Ekawati, the fire occurred at 05.00 WIB when the market conditions were quiet. As a result of this incident, 80 kiosks and stalls of market traders were engulfed by the red rooster. Meanwhile, the alleged cause of the fire was an electrical short circuit.

Even though there have been efforts to extinguish the fire, for now there are still several locations where cooling is still being carried out to relieve smoke.

"The location of the fire is the Cepu Main Market kiosk which has been located behind for a long time. While the front is a newly built kiosk," he said.

The current condition, he said, is still being mapped. At the time of the incident some traders in the market had not arrived and were still quiet. Some locations were affected, used for wholesalers and warehouses.

"The material loss is still being calculated and there were no casualties in the incident this morning," he explained.

He added that usually the wholesale market traders come to the market at around 08.00 WIB. During the blackout, there were four fire engines and some assistance such as from PPSDM, Pertamina, the Bojonegoro Damkar, and others.

"The Regent of Blora has also provided basic food assistance to 11 traders in block D of the main market of Cepu Blora and several supports from others," he said. Meanwhile, the Coordinator of the Cepu Main Market Hartono said that the incident occurred allegedly due to an electrical short circuit at one of the Cepu Blora Main Market stalls.

Firefighters previously received reports from residents and headed to the location shortly thereafter.

"Approximately an hour, the fire was successfully extinguished. There were no casualties but losses were interpreted at hundreds of millions," he said.
