Chief Justice Of The Constitutional Court Apologizes For The Case Of Patrialis Akbar Bribery In Today's Memory, January 26, 2017

JAKARTA Memories of today, eight years ago, January 26, 2017, the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK), Arief Hidayat apologized to the Indonesian people for not being able to take care of the Constitutional Court as well as possible. The apology was made because the Constitutional Justice, Patrialis Akbar was arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for a bribery case.

Previously, Partialists were known as politicians from the National Mandate Party (PAN). His career as a politician is lucky. He can serve as Minister of Law and Human Rights with full controversy. Then become a Constitutional Judge.

Patrialis Akbar's career as a politician is good. He was able to become a politician by using PAN as a political vehicle. He was able to become a People's Representative. He was also trusted by the government of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) as Minister of Law and Human Rights in 2009.

Instead of showing his capacity as Minister, Patrialis actually likes to create controversy. He became a minister who made many corrupt officials cheer. He is like an angel of corruptors. Several corruptors such as Artalyta Suryani and Aulia Pohan were given large remissions.

Not to mention, he also had a conflict with the Legal Mafia Task Force. The conflict began because the Legal Mafia Task Force reported that 15 detainees at the Cipinang Penitentiary were missing. Patrialis did not want to discuss the issue of the loss of prisoners.

He chose to participate in criticism by the Legal Mafia Task Force to take important matters into account. A series of problems made his career as Minister of Law and Human Rights end in the middle of the road. He was hit by the radar of changing ministers in 2011. The government then entrusted the position of Minister of Law and Human Rights to Amir Syamsuddin.

Surprisingly, Patrialis was promoted by the government as a Constitutional Justice in 2013. His presence as a Constitutional Justice was criticized by many parties.

He is considered unable to act neutral because of a former party member. The criticism was answered because he was caught by the KPK's Hand Catch Operation (OTT) on January 25, 2017. Patrialis was proven to have received a deposit of more than Rp. 2 billion for his capacity as a Constitutional Justice who tested the material of the law.

Together with Patrialis, three people involved in the bribery were named suspects. The briber is suspected of being an entrepreneur who rejects the removal of zonal-based meat import rules, not a state base. This rule allows importers to bring in beef from countries that are not yet completely free from mouth and steam diseases," wrote Tempo magazine report entitled Ramadanah Tak Amanah (2017).

Patrialis' arrest made the Constitutional Court fall to its lowest point. In the past, the Constitutional Court itself experienced the same thing when the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court himself, Akil Mochtar, contracted the KPK OTT in 2013. The case is the same: bribery!

The Indonesian people, who initially considered the Constitutional Court as an institution of integrity, actually criticized the Constitutional Court. They looked down on the Constitutional Court because the judges could be bought with money. The flood of criticism reached the ears of the 2015-2018 Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, Arief Hidayat.

Arief Hidayat admitted that he was ashamed of the Patrialis bribery case. Arief also tried to reduce the anger of the people by apologizing to all Indonesian people on January 26, 2017. The apology was made because Arief felt that he could not take care of the Constitutional Court as well as possible.

He considered it natural for many people to criticize the Constitutional Court. He himself believes that Patrialis' bribery shirt will be a hard slap for the Constitutional Court. He promised to bring the Constitutional Court better in the future. He doesn't want a similar case to happen again.

"I can comment like this, O Allah I beg forgiveness. I can't take care of this Constitutional Court as well as possible".

"So I beg God for forgiveness. I apologize to this nation for making another mistake even though it is personal. So that this institution will be tarnished again," said Arief at the Constitutional Court Building as quoted on the JPNN page, January 26, 2017.
