IKN Becomes The Capital Of Indonesian Politics In 2028

The Capital Authority of the Archipelago (OIKN) said that in 2028 the city of Nusantara, the capital city of Indonesia, which was built in parts of North Penajam Paser Regency and Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan Province, was designated as the capital city of politics.

Presiden Prabowo Subianto, kata Kepala OIKN Basuki Hadimuljono di Sepaku, Penajam Paser Utara, Sabtu, menargetkan Kota Nusantara pada 2028 ditetapkan menjadi ibu kota politik.

So that the head of state, he said, gave instructions to OIKN and the Ministry of Public Works to review the design of the construction of office complexes for legislative and judicial institutions in the city of Nusantara.

"The important acceleration of the development of the City of Nusantara 2025-2028, namely the legislative and judicial sectors, including offices, residences of officials and other supporting facilities," he said.

The basic design of the ecosystem and complexes of judiciary and legislative institutions has been made by the Ministry of Public Works, but President Prabowo Subianto ordered the design to be reviewed and re-evaluated.

"We together with the Ministry of Public Works will immediately form a design team that can later be directed by the head of state," he said.

Accelerating the development of the City of the Archipelago, the Government together with the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) agreed to allocate Rp48.8 trillion in funds in the 2025 State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN).

OIKN and the Ministry of Public Works are targeting the construction of a judicial and legislative ecosystem to be completed and operational by 2028.

"President Prabowo Subianto targets that by 2028 the city of Nusantara will become a political city, so that the executive, legislative and judicial institutions will have an office in the capital city of Indonesia that year," said Basuki Hadimuljono.
