Cak Imin: Sea Fence in Tangerang Must Not Be Continued Because It Only Benefits Several Parties
JAKARTA - Chairman of the PKB DPP Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar alias Cak Imin said the construction related to the case of the sea fence only benefits a few people so it cannot be continued.
According to him, the most important development is development carried out for the benefit of everyone. There is currently a polemic related to the case of the existence of a sea fence made of bamboo about 30 kilometers long on the sea north of Tangerang, Banten.
"Yes, that's right, development should not continue," said Muhaimin after attending the 2025 PKB Chinese New Year Reflection event in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Saturday, January 25.
In addition, he said that the most important thing is the way development is carried out without damaging the environment.
On that occasion, he also said that there should be no environmental damage on the pretext of the economy or the needs of the community.
He also invited the public to participate in protecting the earth as a source of life.
Because, he said, the earth is a place for anyone to be born, grow, live, to die.
"We must protect and preserve it. As stakeholders, we must make regulations that protect nature," said the Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment.
He said that efforts to protect the earth were a form of gratitude to God who gave life.
According to him, preserving the environment is our duty as humans to protect the earth as a place of life.
Previously, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono said that the sea fences in Tangerang (Banten) and Bekasi (West Java) had disrupted the activities of fishermen to Steam Power Plants (PLTU) in the area.
The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries has also sealed marine fencing activities in Tangerang, Banten, on January 9, 2025. Then, on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, a demolition was carried out with the Indonesian Navy and other related parties.
