Manchester United Investigate Rangers Fans In Old Trafford's Kandang Area
JAKARTA - Manchester United will start an investigation after a number of Rangers fans can watch the Europa League match on Friday, January 24, 2025, from the home area at Old Trafford.
More than 3,500 Rangers supporters were officially present at the away stands for the match - which ended in a 2-1 score for the hosts' win.
However, television footage shows more that appears to be in the cage area alongside ManchesterUnited fans.
Videos of away fans singing in the cage area are also circulating on social media.
Manchester United said they implemented the rules not as strict as possible to anticipate such circumstances. However, ticket sales without permission cannot be completely eliminated.

The club has pledged to carry out an investigation with the harshest possible sanctions against registered ticket holders who may have sold their tickets.
"To anticipate risks around tonight's game, we are taking the most stringent possible measures to prevent sales to away fans in the home area," a club spokesman said.
"Tickets are only given to people in our database before the draw is done in August. Tickets of hospitality have the same limits."
"The tickets forwarded by seasonal ticket holders and members also have the same limits (that is, tickets can only be forwarded to fans at our database before drawing)."
"Although ticket sales without permits have become more difficult since the introduction of digital tickets in the app, it cannot be completely removed."
"All examples of away fans in the cage area will be investigated over the coming days, with the heavy sanctions possible given to registered ticket holders," reads the club's statement again.
After the match, Greater Manchester Police said 39 arrests were made throughout the night, mostly in the city center.
Manchester United won the Europa League match against Rangers after a late goal from Bruno Fernandes with a final score of 2-1.
