Not Present At Trial Rizieq As A Witness, DKI Deputy Governor: There Is A Plenary Meeting

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said he could not attend the trial of the Rizieq Shihab case as a witness at the East Jakarta District Court.

Riza admitted that she had received an invitation to witness the crowd case in the Petamburan area, Central Jakarta. However, this agenda collided with the plenary meeting with the DKI DPRD.

"There is an invitation. But I can't (attend) today, there is a plenary meeting," said Riza at the DPRD DKI building, Central Jakarta, Monday, April 19.

It was previously known that the public prosecutor (JPU) planned to present Riza in the continuation of the Rizieq Shihab trial. Riza will testify in the follow-up trial of the alleged crowd and health protocol violation (prokes) case in Petamburan.

"Yes, I heard that. For the Petamburan trial after this, if you hurry. Because in the previous trial the chairman of the assembly said that the fasting month for the trial at 3 o'clock was over," said Rizieq's lawyer, Sugito Atmo Prawiro.

Rizieq Shihab was charged with incitement to the appearance of a crowd at his daughter's wedding as well as commemorating the Prophet's birthday in Petamburan, Central Jakarta. This crowd is taking place in the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic. In this case, Riza was present as a guest representing the DKI Provincial Government in the Prophet's Birthday event.

"Doing, who orders to do and who participates in doing actions in public orally or in writing incites to commit a criminal offense of health quarantine as referred to in Article 93 of Law Number 6 of 2018 concerning Health Canteen, committing violence against the general authorities or not obeying both the provisions of the Law and a position order given is based on the provisions of the law, ”said the prosecutor reading the indictment.

According to prosecutors, Rizieq Shihab and Haris Ubaidillah, Ahmad Sabri Lubis, Ali Alwi Alatas, Idrus alias Idrus Al Habsyi and Maman Suryadi were incitement to the emergence of a crowd in Petamburan.
