Indonesia Masters 2025: Fajar/Rian To Semifinals

JAKARTA - The first seeded pair Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto managed to reach the semifinals of the Indonesia Masters 2025.

They secured tickets after defeating Xie Hao Nan/Zeng Wei Han from China in two straight games 21-16 and 21-17 at Istora Senayan, on Friday, January 24, 2025, WIB night.

"Our arms are getting better day by day, but there are many unnecessary mistakes. So, hopefully in the following matches it will be better," Fajar said after the match.

This is the first time Fajar/Rian, the world's former number one, played two straight games out of six matches in the three tournaments they have played.

Previously, when they played three matches at the Malaysia Open and India Open 2025, they always had rubber games. In detail, in Malaysia once and in India twice.

Then they also had to play three games in the first and second rounds of the Indonesia Masters 2025. They were forced to rise from the first game in the two matches.

In the semifinals, Saturday, January 25, 2025, Fajar/Rian will meet Thailand's representative, Kittinupong Kedren/Dechapol Puavaranukroh. The pair previously defeated them in the second round of the India Open 2025 last week.

"Yes, we will study the opponent's pattern again. Yesterday they beat a good partner too. Especially yesterday at the India Open we lost to them," said Rian.

Indonesia has placed a total of three representatives in the semifinals of the Indonesia Masters 2025. The other two are Rinov Rivaldy/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati and Jonatan Christie.
