Manchester City Needs To Restore Confidence
JAKARTA - Jack Grealish said Manchester City were struggling to regain their confidence after being almost eliminated embarrassingly in the Champions League following the 2-4 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain on Thursday, January 23, 2025.
Pep Guardiola's side threw away a two-goal lead after substitute Grealish scored one goal and provided one assist for Erling Haaland in the first eight minutes of the second half.
The defeat means Manchester City will have to win their last game against Club Brugge next week to hunt for tickets to the Champions League knockout system.
The defeat at the Parc des Princes was the 10th defeat of The Citizens in all competitions since October 30, 2024 and the ninth time this season they have failed to win after taking the lead in one game.

Grealish said the loss of performance was due to self-confidence which was drained by poor performances and results.
"Maybe it's a matter of confidence. We didn't have the best season. We know that."
"This season, it is difficult, and it must happen in Paris. We have to try to change that."
"It's hard and it hasn't happened as long as my team is here. Usually we're really good at times like this and we have to change that."
"We have to regain that confidence and courage," Grealish said in Paris.
Manchester City will face two crucial home games ahead against Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday, January 26, 2025, before the last match of the Champions League against Club Brugge on January 30, 2025.
"We had a big weekend game against Chelsea in the league. Then, a game to win next week at the Etihad (against Brugge)."
"We will need a festive Etihad, like on the eve of the Champions League. Next week is like a final for us. We have to win."
"We will work hard and hopefully we can win in the next two games," Grealish said.
