Alluding To The Redelan Of Yos Suprapto's Painting, Megawati Reminds PDIP Cadres: If You Don't Know Art, Meneng!
Chairman of the PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri touched on the case of the decoration of a painting by artist Yos Suprapto which should not be exhibited at the National Gallery at the end of 2024.
The delegation of this painting exhibition is in the public spotlight. There are five paintings that provoke controversy because the object of the painting is similar to the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo.
Megawati mentioned this when she received a gift of a number of paintings depicting herself as gifts for her 78th birthday. In fact, according to Megawati, the meaning of the artwork of an artist does not need to be questioned.
"The art expression must be seen not by us, it must be like I asked earlier to explore his wishes, and that must be respected," Megawati said during a technical guidance event (bimtek) for PDIP legislative members at JIExpo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, Friday, January 24.
Megawati also reminded her cadres not to just take certain interpretations of works of art if they are still lay and do not have sufficient knowledge.
"So PDI-P children, don't be stupid. If you don't know art, meneng (silence). Don't be arrogant like you understand. Because what's called, it's up to them," said Megawati.
The 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia then gave an example of several painting gifts depicting himself in various appearances. Megawati admitted that she was not angry and still appreciated the artwork.
"That's why I commented earlier, how come I'm only alone, there is (her sister) really beautiful, there are those who are really literate. But I'm not angry, you know," he said.
At that moment, there was a painting that stole Megawati's attention. The 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia approached a painting with a picture of himself holding an arrow that had a bow attached.

The painter replied that he painted the figure of Megawati as a female soldier who entered the battlefield. Srikandi has a special mission to kill the opposing commander. Megawati again replied to the explanation she had just listened to.
"No. What I want to ask is that inscription arises. Because of this, I am Javanese too, yes. So, in Javanese, when there is a desire that must be implemented. My question is, if this is me, then I have tolintheng sopo (pimbidik who)?" said Megawati.
