Police: Fugitive Corruption E-KTP Paulus Tannos Arrested By CPIB Singapore January 17
JAKARTA - Fugitive in the corruption case of the electronic ID card procurement project (KTP-el), Paulus Tannos alias Thian Po Tjhin, has been arrested. The arrest process was carried out by the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) Singapore on January 17.
"Yes, that's right (the arrest was on January 17). We were informed by the Singapore general authority, the person concerned was successfully secured by the Singapore CPIB," said the Head of the International Relations Division (Hubinter) of the National Police, Inspector General Krishna Murti, to VOI, Friday, January 24.
However, it has not been conveyed about the location of Paulus Tannos' arrest. It was only explained that the process of arresting the fugitive began with the Divhubinter sending a letter from the Provisional Arrest of Singapore authorities at the end of 2024.
The move was taken solely to assist the arrest process. Because, at that time, Divhubinter received information about his whereabouts.
"Help arrest the person concerned because we have information in question there," he said.
With the arrest of Paulus Tannos, the National Police held a joint meeting with ministries and institutions to follow up on this matter on January 21.
Currently, Indonesia is preparing administration to carry out extradition.
"Furthermore, the Indonesian side is currently processing the extradition concerned, with the whole being the Ministry of Law and Human Rights supported by the KPK, Polri, AGO, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs," Krishna said.

As previously reported, the KPK revealed that Paulus Tannos no longer holds Indonesian passports. As a result, they could not arrest the suspect in the alleged corruption of the Electronic KTP (e-KTP) procurement project even though they had found it in neighboring countries.
The corruption case in the procurement of e-KTP has cost the state up to IDR 2.3 trillion if it refers to the report of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK).
This case dragged the names of a number of high-ranking officials in the ministry, such as former Director General of Dukcapil Irman and former official at the Ministry of Home Affairs Sugiharto. In addition, there is also the name of former DPR Speaker Setya Novanto, former member of Commission III of the DPR Hanura Faction, Miryam S Haryani, a former member of Commission III of the DPR Markus Nari.
Then the KPK again named four new suspects in the e-KTP case in August 2020. They are former members of Commission II of the DPR from the Hanura Party faction Miryam S Haryani, President Director of the Indonesian State Printing Corporation (PNRI) as well as Chairman of the PNRI Consortium Isnu Edhi Wijaya, Head of the Information Technology Technical Team for the Application of ID cards Husni Fahmi, and President Director of PT Sandipala Arthaputra, Paulus Tanos.
