An Invitation To Strengthen Each Other's Chitarra Through The Single Rules Of The Jungle
JAKARTA - Solo singer Chitarra greets Indonesian music listeners with a single song (single) Rules of the Jungle. This song feels very meaningful in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic or the corona virus which is hitting the country's music industry because it has a theme to mutually strengthen each other.
A fragment of the lyrics "face the fight that you believe" becomes a meaningful song and mantra for the listeners. Moreover, the musical composition made through the touch of the hands of producer Ammir Gita has succeeded in bringing us to our alertness while contemplating occasionally releasing the tightness of the problem.
This song was made a year ago before finally being released on April 3 yesterday on digital music platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, GooglePlay / Youtube, JOOX, and Deezer. This song will be included in the EP (mini album) containing six songs which will be released in the near future.
“This song is actually the result of a songwriting class assignment when I was studying music about 4 years ago. So it's really old school. I wrote with a friend from Curacao, Caribbean named Shandrelica Casper, vocalist / percussionist, "said Chitarra in a written statement received by the editorial desk.
"I made the lyrics and the vocal melody, then the beat was from Casper. When I was looking for inspiration for the lyrics, I accidentally took a look at the trailer for the film The Jungle Book (live action version) which will come out that year (2016). which was my initial inspiration for this song and the process took me a year ago to arrange it as it is now, "the youngest daughter of the legendary musician Purwa Caraka explained.
The placement of traditional instruments such as the didgeridoo (Australian wind instrument), diatonic bonang, kalimba (African-style thumb piano) and hulusi (Chinese wind instrument) which are summarized in this song is wrapped without leaving the impression of 'diplomatic music' and 'world music' which is usually used. too embedded in any work that carries traditional music in it.
"This EP will present music that breathes Western compositions that carry traditional Indonesian flavors. Composing something that fuses the modern genre with the traditional is never easy. Fortunately, I worked with producers Ammir Gita and Yudhistira Mirza who are really good at composing. Starting from the structure of the song, the choice of vocal tones, the choice of scales, and instruments are highly thought of for the songs in the EP, "continued Chitarra.
Chitarra hopes that this song can accompany any activities carried out while we are at home and also help all who listen to stay positive and optimistic.
"Face the fight that you believe in the rules of the jungle, hopefully it can become a word of empowerment in a world that sometimes feels so many problems," concluded Chitarra.
