SAR Team Selami Sungai Niru Muara Enim Searches For The Whereabouts Of The Sinking Of A 10-year-old Boy

The joint SAR team conducted a dive in the search for victims drowned in the Niru River, Aur Duri Village, Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra (Sumsel).

Head of the Muara Enim Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Abdurrozieq Putra, said the victim was named Nurhalimah (10), a resident of Aur Duri Village, Rambang Niru District.

The boy who was still in elementary school drowned while bathing in the river with seven friends on Wednesday, January 22 at around 15.00 WIB.

"During the bath, two people were swept away, but one of them was rescued. Meanwhile, the victim Nurhalimah herself has not been found to this day," he said in Muara Enim, South Sumatra, Thursday, January 23, as reported by Antara.

He said the search for victims had been carried out since yesterday after sinking, but was stopped at night due to dark conditions.

"Today is the second day of search," he said.

In conducting a search, his party dispatched a team of divers with complete equipment to dive into the river starting from the first point of drowning victims.

The joint SAR team also struggled along the Niru River using two rubber boats to find the victim's whereabouts so that they could be found immediately.

In fact, officers in the field assisted by the surrounding community conducted a sweep by walking on the edge along the river flow around the crime scene (TKP).

"Hopefully the search for the second day of the victim will be found soon," he said.
