Foreign Minister Sugiono: Peace In Yemen Is One Of The Important Factors To Realize Middle East Stability

JAKARTA - Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono said peace in Yemen is one of the important factors to realize stability in the Middle East.

This was said by Foreign Minister Sugino when meeting with the Vice President of the Council for Presidential Leadership of Yemen, Aidarous Al-Zoubaidi on the sidelines of The World Economic Forum's (WEF) Annual Meeting 2025 at Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, Wednesday.

The development of the security situation in the Middle East and Red Sea areas is the discussion of this meeting.

Vice President Aidarous Al-Zoubaidi highlighted the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Yemen due to the last decade of war.

Praise Indonesia as a big country, Vice President Aidarous Al-Zoubaidi hopes that Indonesia's role in the Middle East Region will be strengthened.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Sugiono expressed her concern about the situation in Yemen and the Red Sea, underlining support for the inclusive peace process in Yemen.

"For Indonesia, Yemen is an important brother and partner in encouraging peace in the Middle East region," said Foreign Minister Sugiono, in a statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thursday, January 23.

"Peace in Yemen is one of the important factors in realizing stability in the Middle East," said the Indonesian Foreign Minister emphasizing.

Closing the meeting, Foreign Minister Sugiono asked for the support of the Yemeni Government in its efforts to protect Indonesian citizens (WNI) in Yemen.

"The protection of Indonesian citizens will continue to be a concern and priority for Indonesian diplomacy, especially in the midst of the current situation in the Middle East," concluded Foreign Minister Sugiono.

It is known, Yemen is one of the Middle East countries with a significant number of Indonesian diaspora. Most of them are students who live in southern Yemen.
