Don't Be Discouraged, Here Are 3 Ways To Know Your Own Advantages

JAKARTA - Questions about one's own strengths are often confused to explain. This question is often asked during interviews. Both job interviews and in front of prospective in-laws when applying for a lover's heart.

In principle, the strengths and weaknesses of oneself can be easily defined. Recognizing one's strengths and weaknesses means having a comprehensive picture of yourself. Launching Leaderonomics, everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses according to their personality.

Knowing your strengths means knowing your own capacity and personal strengths to solve problems or even overcome the most difficult conditions.

Meanwhile, deficiency is not something bad about us but something within us that needs to be developed or built for the better.

How to recognize strengths, there are 3 easy steps as follows.

Write down the goals you want to achieve

In psychology, personality includes ways of thinking, habits, and behaviors related to how we view things or what we believe. Whereas in management principles, personality is generally divided into 4, namely driver, expressive, friendly, and analytical.

So, it is important to know what goals you want to achieve. It is useful to become a guide to knowing the strengths and weaknesses of yourself that are relevant to your goals.

Why do you need to write down goals? Because our brains don't just remember one thing, there are many other aspects of life that need to be worked out and thought about. By writing down the goals, it is easier for us to remember and come back to opening notes when things start to get lost.

Identify strengths and weaknesses

There are three ways to identify a person's strengths and weaknesses. We can use tools, for example the MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) and HBDI (Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument) test. Both are tests that can identify ways of thinking and categorize them.

HBDI has 4 categories, namely analytical, experimental, relational, and practical. Meanwhile, MBTI has 16 categories including ENFJ, ENFP, ENTJ, ENTP, ESFJ, ESFP, ESTP, ESTJ, INFJ, INFP, INTJ, INTP, ISFJ, ISFP, ISTJ, ISTP. These sixteen categories are modifications of introverted, extroverted, sensing, intuition, thinking, feeling, judging, and perceiving personalities.

The third way is to validate the closest, trusted and expert people. You can ask relatives and friends who really know us so that they can be properly validated.

Test yourself

Based on our goals, values, and personality, we can test ourselves. This third method is rarely used but is very necessary so that abilities and personality can be examined carefully. And by examining ourselves we can find the strongest and most pure strengths and weaknesses.

When trapped in anxiety and fear of trying new things which of course test oneself, then one just needs to be sure they need to see interesting things that can be revealed through practical activities.

For example, you are not confident when giving a presentation, so try to prepare yourself well and do the challenge optimally. This is the only way you can identify strengths and weaknesses and test yourself.

The last recommendation, never be discouraged because everyone has the ability to overcome weaknesses after knowing the strengths.
