Pamtas Task Force Yonarmed 11 Kostrad Failed To Send 5 Illegal CPMIs At The RI-Malaysia Border
NUNUKAN Personnel from the RI-Malaysia Border Security Task Force (Pamtas), Yonarmed 11 Kostrad together with the Intelligence Task Force Kodam VI/Mulawarman managed to thwart efforts to send five Indonesian Migrant Workers Candidates (CPMI) to Malaysia suspected of being illegal or non-procedural.
The commander of the Indonesian Pamtas Task Force-MLY Yonarmed 11 Kostrad, Lt. Col. Arm Gde Adhy Surya Mahendra, explained that the five CPMIs were secured by the Mansalong River, Mansalong Village, Lumbis District, Nunukan Regency.
"At that time, personnel from the Pos Labang and the Intelligence Task Force for Kodam VI/Mulawarman carried out routine patrols around the Mansalong River on Monday, January 20. Then, found five unknown people and not local residents sitting on long boats piers with suspicious movements," said Lt. Col. Arm Gde Adhy Surya Mahendra, Tuesday, January 21.
"Officers then approached and asked for their identity and destination at that location," he continued.
During the examination, one of the CPMIs claimed to be from Flores, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) will go to Malaysia.
"After the examination, the five were unable to show documents or official administrative documents to leave for Malaysia," he explained.
Confessions of the five said they were only asked to wait by a liaison who was looking for a long boat to take them to Malaysia illegally.
"Currently, this illegal CPMI has been secured at the Mansalong Representative Post for further investigation," he added.
Furthermore, the Task Force coordinated with the Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Service Center (BP3MI) of Kaltara Province.
"This is the result of strict supervision of unofficial routes in border areas to prevent criminal acts of trafficking in persons and sending illegal migrant workers," he said.
His party also urges them to always follow official procedures if they want to work abroad for security.
"We will continue to increase supervision on border routes to prevent all forms of illegal activities that can harm the state and society," he said.
