12 Lawyers Will Defend Hasto In Pretrial Against The KPK Today

JAKARTA - Chairman of the PDIP DPP for National Legal System Reform Ronny B. Talapessy said 12 lawyers were ready to defend PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto in a pretrial hearing against the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) at the South Jakarta District Court (PN) today. Todung Mulya Lubis will be the team leader.

"Our legal team is ready," Ronny told reporters in a written statement, Tuesday, January 21.

Kubu Hasto filed a pretrial lawsuit because he did not accept being named by the KPK as a suspect in the alleged bribery in the interim replacement (PAW) for members of the DPR and the obstruction of the investigation.

"Regarding the evidence, we have prepared everything and will convey it in court," said the lawyer.

Ronny reminded PDIP cadres to continue to oversee the pretrial. All parties are asked to respect the process.

This step was called by Ronny to prove Hasto's innocence. "To the big family of the PDI-P to remain calm," he said.

"We both respect and obey the law. We are both fighting in the legal way, to prove that what has been accused to the Secretary General of the PDI-P Mas Hasto Kristiyanto is not true," continued Ronny.

Previously reported, the KPK developed an interim replacement bribery (PAW) case that ensnared former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan and his fugitive, Harun Masiku. Two people were later named as suspects, namely PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto and Donny Tri Istiqomah who are PDIP cadres as well as lawyers.

It didn't stop there, Hasto was also a suspect in the obstruction of the investigation. He is suspected of trying to obstruct the legal process, one of which is by asking Harun to damage his cellphone and run away after the hand arrest operation (OTT) was carried out.

After becoming a suspect, Hasto's camp filed a pretrial lawsuit. This case is registered with case number 5/Pid.Pra/2025/PN JKT.SEL and Djumyanto will act as the sole judges.
