Minister Of KKP Calls Sea Fences Structured That Will Become Mainland
JAKARTA - Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) Sakti Wahyu Trenggono said the illegal sea fence was structured to withstand abrasion, which over time will turn into land.
"In the past, it was a fishing place that made captivity for shells, so we thought that way. But when he was structured, it was to hold back abrasion," said Trenggono at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Monday, January 20.
"So if you hold back abrasion, it becomes shallow for a long time, if it becomes shallow then it becomes land," he continued.
Trenggono said that the construction of the sea fence was massive in 2024. However, he had confirmed that the sea fence was illegal and demolished.
He also emphasized that the construction of the sea fence did not have an official permit, and said that reports related to this activity had never been received by the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) before.
Regarding the Building Use Rights (HGB) certificate related to the area, he stated that it was outside the authority of his ministry.
"The HGB is not with us, we don't know, I don't know if there is an HGB," said Trenggono.

"We have proven that we have gone down, we check, it turns out that it is not captivity, not cage confinement, yes. Then then that is a structured fence, so yes, we have immediately done the demolition," said Trenggono.
Trenggono also conveyed President Prabowo Subianto's direction to investigate and investigate sea fencing in Tangerang waters, Banten, which do not have permits or are illegal.
"The direction of the President, one, to investigate legally so that we must correct the legal corridor. If it does not exist, it must belong to the state, now that's a case like that," said Trenggono.
