Garut Skin Center Lifts Local Creation As A Tourism Destination
Piazza Florence was inaugurated as a center for MSME quality skin products as well as a new tourist destination in Garut Regency. This inauguration took place and was attended by national and regional figures, such as the TNI Commander, the Indonesian Minister of Tourism, the Deputy Minister of Cooperatives of the Republic of Indonesia, members of the DPR RI, the elected Deputy Regent of Garut, Pangdam Siliwangi, and other honorary guests.
Band cuts by joint figures Poppy Dharsono and Hariyadi Sukamdani, founders of the Poppy Dharsono Foundation and Spinindo Group, marked the start of official Piazza Firenze operations.
In his remarks, Poppy Dharsono said Piazza Florence was an important step to make Garut a center for high-quality skin industry as well as a sustainable tourism city.
"This project is the result of a strategic collaboration between the Poppy Dharsono Foundation, the Military Resort Command (Korem) 062 Tarumanegara, and the Spinindo Group. The main goal is to improve the quality of Garut skin products, support the local economy, and create sustainable jobs," he explained in a press statement received by VOI.
Piazza Florence also collaborates with international experts such as Christian Garciel (Hermes and Pierre Balmain) and Rebecca Sharp (former Acting President Gucci) to improve the quality of Garut's global design, branding and marketing products. This effort is expected to be able to encourage local products to penetrate the international market.
Piazza Florence is designed to lift the Garut skin industry to a global level as well as become an educational tourist destination based on local craft arts. With an Italian-style architecture, Piazza Florence combines traditional and modern nuances to create space that supports the development of MSMEs as well as attracts tourists.
This project not only improves the quality of skin products but also introduces the production process to visitors, making it a unique and informative tourist experience.

The Minister of Tourism in his speech said that this project is a synergy between the government and the private sector. "Garut has long been known as a quality skin producer. The presence of Piazza Florence strengthens Garut's position as a center of the skin industry as well as a tourist destination that combines culture and local creativity," he said.
Piazza Florence is a space for Garut skin artists to innovate and produce products with international standards. Various products such as leather bags, shoes, and accessories produced here are expected to be able to become new icons of Garut tourism.
Visitors can witness firsthand the process of making skin products, from processing raw materials to becoming finished products, which provide educational experience as well as appreciation for local craft arts.
These products also offer great potential as typical souvenirs that not only strengthen Garut's identity, but also open wider export opportunities. With a combination of high quality and local art value, Piazza Firenze is expected to be a catalyst for creative economic growth in the region.
