JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto ordered his staff through the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono and related parties to investigate and investigate sea fencing in Tangerang waters, Banten, which do not have permits or are illegal.

This was conveyed by Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono who fulfilled the summons of President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Monday, January 20, to report the polemic of the sea fence which is in the public spotlight.

"The direction of the President, one, to investigate legally so that we must correct the legal corridor. If it does not exist, it must belong to the state, now that's a case like that," Trenggono said as quoted by ANTARA.

Trenggono explained that development in the sea room should have obtained a permit for the Compliance of Marine Spatial Utilization Activities (KKPRL) in accordance with the Job Creation Act.

Due to the absence of this permit, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries and related parties, such as the Indonesian Navy, the National Police's Security Maintenance Agency (Baharkam) and the Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla) will seal it, and identify the perpetrators of sea fencing.

"After we do the sealing, we identify who has it? When we do the sealing, we don't know who owns it. Yes, in a juridical manner, there must be an acknowledgment of who owns it and so on and so on," said Trenggono.

Trenggono also mentioned the unity of Pantura fishermen who reportedly visited the KKP office on Tuesday, so the investigation process is expected to be easier.

The Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries also conveyed that there is a certificate of ownership on the seabed with an area of 30 hectares which is illegal.

On the other hand, the demolition of the sea fence will be carried out thoroughly and involve various parties ranging from the Indonesian Navy, the National Police's Security Maintenance Agency (Baharkam) and the Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla). This collaborative step is needed to ensure action is in accordance with the applicable legal corridors.
