Sugar Corruption Case, AGO Names 9 New Suspects

The Attorney General's Office (AGO) continues to investigate the alleged corruption case of sugar imports at the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) for the 2015-2016 period. Recently, investigators have named nine new suspects in the case.

"So a number of people have been named as suspects by investigators based on sufficient evidence," said the Director of Investigation at the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) at the AGO, Abdul Qohar, to reporters, Monday, January 20.

The suspects came from the private sector. They are directors to president directors (directors) in each company.

Named, the nine suspects are TWN who is the President Director of PT AP; WN as President Director of PT AF; HS as President Director of PT SUJ; and IS who is the President Director of PT MSI.

Then, TSEP director of PT MT; HAT as director of PT DSI; ASB who is the President Director of PT KTM; HFH Director of PT BMM; and ES director of PT PDSU.

Most of the suspects were named on the grounds that they had been consolidated to determine which one would import sugar. Their meeting took place in the SCBD area 4 times.

"To be appointed as the party that will import raw crystal sugar to then process white liquid sugar," said Qohar.

On the other hand, it is said, of the nine suspects, seven of them have been detained. While the other two are still being sought.

"The two suspects who have been properly summoned and are not present today, namely on behalf of HAT and ASB suspects. Currently, a search is being carried out by the investigative team to find out where they are," said Qohar.
