Hundreds Of Graves In Sungailiat Bangka Collapsed 10 Cm Due To Heavy Rain

JAKARTA - Hundreds of tombs at the Sungailiat Bangka Islamic Cemetery (TPI), Bangka Belitung Islands Province (Babel), landslides or collapsed due to heavy rains in the last few days.

The head of the TPI of the Al-Ittihaad Sungailiat Foundation, Remdan Hamzah, noted that around 130 graves experienced landslides or collapsed due to heavy rains. Hoarding land fell about 10 centimeters (cm).

"Eating which landslides have to be stockpiled again by funeral officers and volunteers using prepared sand," he said in Sungailiat, Monday, January 20, which was confiscated by Antara.

To reduce the cost of hoarding by employing several people, he said, the foundation involved heirs.

"The airport we need to stock up landslides is estimated to reach four trucks," he said.

Currently, the TPI of the Al-Ittihaad Sungailiat Foundation has accommodated around 1,119 Muslim graves since opening in 2016.

Islamic cemeteries that have been established since eight years ago are for Muslim funerals from a number of neighborhoods in Sungailiat City.

"We all hope that the high rainfall as it is now subsides so that the hoarding of the tomb goes smoothly," he said.

Muslim cemeteries managed by the Al-Ittihaad Sungailiat Foundation are not far from the center of Sungailiat City so that they are easily accessible to the public either using motorbikes or four-wheeled vehicles.

"The landslide incident of hundreds of graves this is the first time this has happened because previously the rainfall had not occurred for several days like now," he said.
