Proving Hasto Obstructed Investigation, KPK Has Opportunity to Summon Harun Masiku Case Investigator

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has the opportunity to summon investigators in the bribery case of the interim replacement (PAW) of members of the Indonesian House of Representatives with suspect Harun Masiku. This possibility is open to investigate the case of obstruction of investigation that ensnared PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto.

The anti-corruption commission has examined one of its former investigators, Ronald Paul Sinyal as a witness in the alleged bribery of the interim replacement (PAW) of members of the Indonesian House of Representatives and obstruction of investigation on Wednesday, January 8.

"Yes, all of that is possible. All of that is possible as long as investigators assess the witness's statement, whoever it is, is needed to explain the alleged case being investigated," said KPK Spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika as quoted on Monday, January 20.

Meanwhile, KPK Director of Investigation Asep Guntur Rahayu said that the examination of investigators was indeed carried out because they experienced obstruction in carrying out their duties. So, a request for information is indeed needed.

"Because the ones who experience obstacles are the investigators. The investigation then becomes hampered, obstructed, yes, it is the investigators," said Asep to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, January 10.

Asep said that every request for information by investigators is not for a made-up reason.

"So the capacity of the investigators there is that we want to find out what kind of information, the obstacles," he said.

"What kind of obstacles do they feel. That's the information we want to get. We want to get it related to the examination of the former investigators," continued Asep.

Previously reported, the KPK is developing a bribery case for the replacement of interim (PAW) that ensnared former KPU Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan and his fugitive, Harun Masiku.

Two people were then named as suspects, namely PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto and Donny Tri Istiqomah who is a PDIP cadre and lawyer.

Not stopping there, Hasto is also a suspect in obstruction of investigation. He is suspected of trying to obstruct the legal process, one of which is by asking Harun to destroy his cellphone and run away after the sting operation (OTT) was carried out.
