FAA And SpaceX Investigate Reports Of Debris Of Starship

JAKARTA SpaceX was again monitored by the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) for the Starship launch on Thursday, January 16. The board failed to launch, even disappeared shortly after taking off.

The FAA stated that they had received reports related to the Starship fractions that landed in the Turks and Caicos Islands. The debris is believed to have originated from the Starship thermal protection system because the vehicle suffered property damage at the launch.

Although local people reported debris falling, there were no casualties in the accident. The FAA is still investigating debris in the Turks and Caicos regions with SpaceX as the company is required to make an accident investigation report.

"FAA requires SpaceX to investigate the crash of the disappearance of Starship", the FAA said, quoted through Spacenews. "FAA is working with SpaceX and relevant authorities to confirm reports of damage to public property in the Turks and Caicos Islands."

This isn't the first time SpaceX has failed to launch Starship. The spacecraft exploded several times and dropped debris into a number of areas. When the accident occurs, SpaceX will work closely with the FAA to carry out an in-depth investigation.

This time, it is not certain why Starship could explode after takeoff. However, the company stated that telemetry disappeared about eight and a half minutes after the flight. After that, they realized there was a fire on the plane.

"Initial data showed the fire occurred at the back of the ship, which caused unscheduled rapid demolition," SpaceX said. "The data review has been ongoing while we are looking for the root of the problem."

As with the previous accident reviews, SpaceX is committed to conducting a thorough investigation. They will also coordinate with the FAA until they find the cause of the accident to implement repairs.
