KAI Reveals Gapeka 2025 Is Expected To Support National Tourism And Economy

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia or PT KAI (Persero) will launch a number of new trains along with the implementation of the 2025 Railway Travel Graphics (Gapeka).

KAI Vice President Public Relations Anne Purba said that this strategic step is a tangible manifestation of KAI in increasing comfort, opening new routes, and contributing to the development of new economic points in various regions.

With the inauguration of Gapeka 2025, the public will have more choices of comfortable, safe, and timely travel. The launch of this new train aims to improve inter-regional accessibility and provide better mobility solutions, especially on strategic routes," he said in his statement, Sunday, January 19.

The list of new trains that will be present as of February 1, 2025:

Anne said each train was equipped with modern facilities, including executive, business and economic trains with a capacity varying from 360 to 580 passengers.

The new RUTEs are not only designed to meet the needs of public transportation, but also open up economic opportunities in new areas," he said.

According to Anne with better access to transportation, previously less affordable areas now have the opportunity to develop economically, support tourism, trade and local investment activities.

Anne conveyed that KAI also continues to provide a variety of innovations to reduce environmental impacts. Among them are by providing water stations at stations, using face recognition technology, and replacing eating utensils with wood in train food services.

"KAI also launched the Carbon Footprint feature in the Access by KAI application in December 2024, in order to raise public awareness of the importance of choosing environmentally friendly transportation," he explained.

Anne conveyed that to support the smooth operation of train travel, KAI has also replaced the wooden pads on steel bridges with synthetic pads that are more environmentally friendly, durable, and efficient.

Anne added that this new train connects strategic tourist destinations such as Ketapang, Malang, Madiun, Pasarsenen, and Surabaya. In addition, new routes such as Gunungjati Train and North Sancaka Train are expected to be able to strengthen inter-regional connectivity, especially in the domestic tourism sector.

In addition to launching a new train on February 1, 2025, Anne said KAI plans to bring various innovations in stages along with the implementation of the new Gapeka. This step is expected to improve brand awareness as well as strengthen people's positive perceptions of KAI services.
