TIkTok Officially Can't Be Used In The United States, Netter Shares Closing Notifications

JAKARTA - TikTok has notified users in the United States that the brand service is not being used for a while. This is an implication of the ban on the application after a tough tug-of-war.

"Sorry, TikTok isn't available right now. The law that prohibits TikTok has been in effect in the US. Unfortunately, that means you can't use TikTok for a while," the app said as reported by Anadolu in ANTARA on Sunday, January 19.

"We are fortunate that President Trump has indicated that he will work with us to find a solution so that TikTok can be reused after he takes office. Look forward to further information," the message continued.

While no longer usable, users are still allowed to log in and download their data.

The application is no longer available on both the App Store and Google Play Store.

Hours earlier, the company announced that its services would be temporarily unavailable.

"We regret that US laws banning TikTok will take effect on January 19, forcing us to temporarily make our services unavailable," the popular video-sharing app said in a message to all users.

"We are working to restore our services in the US as quickly as possible and we appreciate your support. Look forward to further information," he added.

The US Supreme Court on Friday backed a law banning TikTok except its Chinese-based parent company ByteDance has relinquished its possession of the app.

The court in Uncle Sam's country decided that the ultimatum to relinquish ownership or ban did not violate the company's First Amendment rights in the US Constitution.

The White House stated that the Chinese social media app should remain available in the US, but under American ownership to address national security concerns.

President-elect Donald Trump, who has shown sympathy for TikTok, will return to the White House on Monday to begin his second term, a day after the deadline for ByteDance to relinquish its holdings.

Trump urged the highest court to postpone the decision for negotiations. TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew is expected to attend Trump's inauguration.

The bipartisan law passed by Congress and signed by Biden in April gave ByteDance 270 days to release its holdings or face bans.
