Central Jakarta Metro Police Reveals Narcotics Factory In Depok

JAKARTA - The Subunit 5 Team for Narcotics Criminal Investigation at the Tanah Abang Metro Police, Central Jakarta Police, revealed the existence of a home narcotics factory of synthetic seedlings in the Depok area, West Java.

Tanah Abang Metro Police Chief, Central Jakarta Metro Police AKBP Aditya SP Sembiring in Jakarta, Saturday, said that from the disclosure of the home narcotics factory, four suspects were arrested, namely TRW (27), FJ (23), DY (26), and MS (30).

"We found that this location is a raw material for synthetic seeds that will be used as synthetic tobacco ready for distribution," said AKBP Aditya in Jakarta, Saturday.

He stated that the home narcotics factory had been operating since August 2024 with an estimated turnover of Rp12 billion.

AKBP Aditya explained that the four suspects had their respective roles, ranging from producers to dealers.

According to him, the disclosure began in the early hours of Saturday (18/1), after the team received information about suspicious activities in the Depok area.

Then the investigation led to a house in the Almakmur Mosque Gang, Cisalak Pasar Village, Cimanggis, Depok. At this location, the team secured TRW and FJ along with two packages of synthetic tobacco and two cellphones.

Furthermore, he said, the development of the case led to DY who was in a rented house on Jalan Majelis Kalimulya, Depok.

At that location, the team found various pieces of evidence, such as five kilograms of synthetic powder raw material, three packs of crude tobacco, and other production equipment, including hexosware and electric scales.

"DY also revealed the involvement of MS as the main maker of synthetic seeds. Then MS was secured in a separate place in the Bogor area with evidence of a package of synthetic tobacco weighing 15 grams. He admitted that he had produced synthetic seeds since mid-year ago," he said.

He added that the suspects used the rented house as a place for narcotics production with a home factory mode. The goods produced are marketed through certain networks to be circulated to the Jakarta area and its surroundings.

"This success cannot be separated from the hard work of the team conducting reconnaissance and intensive investigations," he said.

As a result of their actions, the suspects were charged with Article 113 paragraph (1) Jo. Article 112 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

"The threat of imprisonment is a minimum of five years and a maximum of 15 years," said the Tanah Abang Metro Police Chief.
