Tottenham Don't Want To Be Called Lesu On The Winter Transfer Exchange

JAKARTA - Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou defended his club's lack of activity in the winter transfer market.

He emphasized that he knew how hard the Spurs worked to bring in new players.

Spurs managed to sign goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky on January 5, 2025, but still failed to bring in players in other positions to patch the injury-hit squad.

It didn't stop there, it turned out that Spurs secretly insisted on getting Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain. In fact, they are not afraid to fight with Juventus.

Unfortunately, PSG prefers to agree with Juventus to lend Muani until the end of this season.

However, Postecoglou was reluctant to give up on signing new players. When asked if losing Muani was a major setback, Postecoglou replied, "No."

"We want it. Yes, it depends on what you mean by 'looking'. We are interested and eyeing a number of players."

"However, did we get to the point where we thought he would come to us? No," said the manager again.

The Australian manager further emphasized that Spurs will not be noisy in the January 2025 exchange.

What is important is the need for players to be accommodated. Postecoglou is fully aware of the work that is currently underway behind the scenes led by Technical Director Johan Lange.

"The club works as hard as it can. So, that's all you can ask for. January is not an easy month."

"However, I know a lot of work is being done behind the scenes to try and get some reinforcements," said Postegoclou again.

Tottenham dropped to 14th in the Premier League ahead of their trip to Everton on Sunday, January 19, 2025.

They visited Merseyside with injuries after losing in the North London Derby against Arsenal (1-2) on January 16, 2025.

In the midst of a list of absent players, who contributed to poor performance, Postecoglou wanted to immediately get new ammunition to boost appearances.

The reason is, the agenda in the future has started to solidize with Spurs also playing in the Europa League. After against Everton, they will visit Hoffenheim's home.

"It's difficult because all the clubs experience it. I think traditionally it increased in the last week so we approached it for all clubs."

"It's not frustration. It would be frustrating and disappointment if the club didn't work hard, but they worked hard."

"That's an easy word to say, but I know how hard the club has been working behind the scenes to solve something. It's not easy."

"You need approval from three different parties. Sometimes, when you're in our situation, other clubs notice it and try to make the most of it."

"That's why I'm happy to be able to bring in Toni (Antonin Kinsky) early enough. It definitely helps us, but it's not because I don't want to try. So, I accept it and I'm not disappointed or frustrated," said Postecoglou.
