Sea Fence in Tangerang Dismantled by Indonesian Navy and Residents
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) together with the local community dismantled the sea fence in the Tanjung Pasir area, Tangerang Regency, Banten, Saturday, January 18.
The dismantling was led directly by the Commander of the III Jakarta Main Naval Base (Danlantamal) Brigadier General TNI (Mar) Harry Indarto.
Quoting Antara, around dozens of ships belonging to the TNI AL and fishermen tore down the fence in the Tanjung Pasir area.
Several methods were used by the TNI AL and the community to dismantle the fences made of bamboo, one of which was tying the bamboo fence with rope and then pulling it with a ship until it collapsed.
Until now, the dismantling process is still ongoing.
Brigadier General Harry said that there were 600 people who were a combination of TNI AL members and local residents in dismantling the sea fences.
Previously, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) had sealed the 30.16 km long sea fence location located on the coast of Tangerang Regency. His party is still investigating the person in charge of installing the fence.

The Indonesian Ombudsman is also investigating allegations of maladministration in the sea fencing, with the agency also saying that there is a provisional estimate of fishermen's losses of IDR 9 billion.
