Arne Slot Glad To See Liverpool Compete With Big Clubs Spending A Lot Of Money
JAKARTA - Liverpool manager Arne Slot is delighted to have a team that can compete with Premier League rivals who spend more money.
The nine-and-a-half-year contract Erling Haaland signed with Manchester City on Friday, January 17, 2025, which is reportedly worth 500,000 pounds a week, is a reminder of the financial power of a number of top clubs.
This contract is in stark contrast to Liverpool's current situation with their three main stars Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold whose contracts expire in the summer.
Their weekly joint salary is estimated at only 750.000, with Salah as the player with the highest earnings in the club's history with a weekly salary of 350.000.
While Manchester City continued to carry out mini-development in January 2025 by recruiting at least four players who could exceed 150 million, it is likely that Liverpool will not take a big step.

When asked if Manchester City's financial power made his Premier League throne threatened, Arne Slot was unsure.
"It's not really about investing, but we know how well we have to perform every day to compete in this league."
"Not only the club you mean (Manchester City), Chelsea also spent 1.2 billion pounds, (Manchester) United spent an incredible amount."
"Every team spends a lot of money here, that's why the league is so interesting to follow."
"Pada musim tertentu klub ini menghabiskan sedikit lebih banyak, di musim lain klub lainnya menghabiskan sedikit lebih banyak."
"That's what makes this league so intense and very difficult to win. However, that's also the reason why we want to be here."
"You want to compete with the best, with the best. We are very happy with the team we have right now."
"We are still able to compete with all the teams that cost a lot of money," said Arne Slot again.
So far, Jurgen Klopp's legacy squad has proven to be very capable of playing at the highest level.
They still lead the Premier League standings which so far have a four-point gap from Arsenal in second place.
Shifting to the Champions League, the Reds are also still strong. They are unbeaten in six group stage matches that have been undertaken (five wins and one draw) to lead the standings.
Liverpool are also likely to win other titles, such as the FA Cup and Carabao Cup at the domestic level.
Arne Slot also ran his team well because the transition after Jurgen Klopp's death did not really affect stability.
