Export Of Suzuki Indomobil Sales Down Due To A Sluggish Global Economy

JAKARTA - PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS) responded to the decline in the number of exports that occurred in 2024 due to issues related to the global economy that were not going well.

"Incidentally last year's global economic condition was not very encouraging and had an impact on our total production and exports," said Managing Director of PT Suzuki Indomobil Motor (SIM) Shodiq Wicaksono quoting Antara.

Referring to data released by the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), Suzuki only managed to record 19,141 vehicle shipments for consumers outside Indonesia.

This number has decreased when compared to last year's 2023 as many as 38,557 vehicles.

Where it is known that the country's economy was under pressure due to various activities such as the role of g Russia and Ukraine, so this also had an impact on the acceptance of vehicles in the destination country of Suzuki itself.

Suzuki, which markets their vehicles to more than 70 countries, acknowledged this was the cause of their decline in their export figures in 2024.

Until now, Suzuki's export activities are still focused on 74 countries in the Asian region as well as Latin America and Japan, which are the country of origin of the vehicle.

"The export of Suzuki Indonesia has reached 74 countries, the majority are still in Asia and the second is Latin America. The two wheels are exported to Japanese countries," he explained.

Currently, Suzuki is still intensifying exports for two of their flagship vehicle models, namely Suzuki Xl7 and also Suzuki Ertiga.

Even so, Suzuki believes that in 20205, an increase will occur. He believes that the improving economy in all countries and also the Indonesia market share from Suzuki can reach 8.5 percent this year.
