Polda Metro Records Accident Rate Decreases In 2024, 2 People Die Per Day

JAKARTA - The Directorate of Traffic (Ditlantas) of the Polda Metro Jaya recorded a decrease in the number of accidents in 2024 when compared to the previous period. However, when viewed from the fatality side, it is very worrying. Because, two people die every day.

"In general, it has decreased. But judging from the fatality of the accident, of course, we are quite concerned," said Traffic Director of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Latif Usman.

For the 2024 period, 12,555 motorized vehicle accidents were recorded. All started with violations of traffic rules.

"Of these 12,000 died as 677. This is a concern for us," he said.

In fact, if the average is taken from the number 677, then every day there are two people who die from traffic accidents. This is also in the spotlight because it can be said that there is still a lack of public awareness with driving rules.

"That if we calculate it means that every day on average 2 people in Jakarta die," said Latif.

Not only that, the public is also considered not to care about the number of accidents, especially regarding their fatality. Therefore, Polda Metro Jaya, in this case the Directorate of Traffic, will continue to work optimally to regulate all forms of violations.

The goal is to reduce the number of accidents. Thus, people are orderly in traffic which leads to a sense of security and comfort while driving.

"People don't pay attention to that. It's as if it's normal, from here I want to tell the public that the victims who die on this street every day 2 must also get the attention of all of us," said Latif.
