Airlangga Encourages Consumption Sector To Increase Economic Growth
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said that although several institutions, including Bank Indonesia (BI), had lowered their economic growth projections, the government remained optimistic.
According to him, this is because it is currently still in January, and further developments will be seen in March, especially with the celebration of Eid. Therefore, the government will continue to encourage the consumption sector.
"But the government is still optimistic, this is still January. So we'll see developments in the future and the government will see in March there will be Eid so that we will continue to boost the consumption sector," he said in his statement, Friday, January 17.
In addition, Airlangga said the government also strengthened foreign exchange-related policies, including export foreign exchange policies.
As for now, Airlangga emphasized that the government is conducting fine tuning of the policy, with the hope that it can be launched soon so that it can strengthen Indonesia's economic resilience.
"Hopefully we can launch this soon so that the fundamentals of our economic resilience will be stronger," he explained.
Previously, Bank Indonesia (BI) revealed that Indonesia's economic growth in 2025 was estimated at 4.7 percent to 5.5 percent, tends to be slightly lower than the previous forecast range at the level of 4.8 percent to 5.6 percent.
BI Governor Perry Warjiyo said the decline in economic projections in 2025 was estimated to be due to low export value due to the slow demand for major trading partner countries, except the US.

Perry added that household consumption is also still weak, especially the lower middle class in connection with the lack of strong expectations of income and employment availability.
In addition, Perry said that the push for private investment has not been strong because the production capacity is still greater in meeting demand, both domestically and exports.
"Bank Indonesia predicts Indonesia's economic growth in 2025 to reach the range of 4.7 percent to 5.5 percent, slightly lower than the previous forecast range of 4.8 percent 5.6 percent," he said at a press conference, Wednesday, January 15.
