Observers Call Jokowi The Cause Of Prabowo And Megawati Not Visiting Each Other

The discourse of a meeting between President Prabowo Subianto, who is also the General Chair of the Gerindra Party and PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri has not yet been held. In fact, both parties admitted that they still had close relations and had no problems.

Even Prabowo admitted that he wanted to return to eating Megawati's fried rice. Megawati also stated that she was ready to cook again fried rice specifically for Prabowo.

Political communication observer at Esa Unggul University, Jamiluddin Ritonga, assesses that there are external factors that have hampered the meeting of Prabowo and Megawati until now, namely the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo.

"It seems that Prabowo and Megawati have not met because there is a third factor. This factor could be related to Joko Widodo. For Megawati, Jokowi has a dead card. Therefore, where there is Jokowi, Megawati will not want to join," Jamiludin told reporters, Friday, January 17.

Megawati, according to Jamiluddin, would still avoid the meeting if Prabowo was still overshadowed by Jokowi. The meeting door will be wider if Megawati thinks Prabowo will no longer follow Jokowi's political direction.

"So, if Prabowo really wants to meet Megawati, then his choice must be able to keep his distance from Jokowi. Otherwise, Prabowo and Megawati's meeting will continue to be only a discourse," he said.

Previously, the daily chairman of the Gerindra Party DPP, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, confirmed the plan for a meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri. However, Dasco admitted that he did not know when the exact time for the meeting of the two would be held.

According to him, this time depends on the communication built between PDIP and Gerindra. Because said Dasco, PDIP and Gerindra both sent representatives to discuss the meeting between Megawati and Prabowo.

"We don't know (when the meeting is, ed), it depends on the communication made by friends (Gerindra and PDIP)," said Dasco, Monday, January 13.

Secretary General of the Gerindra Party Ahmad Muzani prayed that the meeting between Prabowo and Megawati could be realized this month. "I pray, hopefully this month, the sooner, the better," said Muzani at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, January 15.

Muzani revealed that the relationship between Prabowo and Megawati was a long and good personal relationship. Long before Prabowo became the 8th President of the Republic of Indonesia.

"Both of them have good personal relationships. Both Mr. Prabowo and Mrs. Mega. Therefore, when Mr. Prabowo was elected President, the relationship was still established," he said.

"It is true that the two of them have never met, but the communication was carried out in various ways that the message from the two of them arrived," continued the chairman of the MPR.
